Moments with Claire Pittaway

This episode we were delighted to chat to Claire Pittaway who is the Employee Brand and Engagement Manager at Sky Betting and Gaming. She is a mental health first aider, is part of a wellbeing working group and heads up a great initiative which is an internal podcast 'Time to Talk' where colleagues openly talk about their mental health issues. It aims to break the stigma of mental health in the workplace.

This podcast recently won a special recognition award for wellbeing at the Sunday Times Top 100 companies to work for awards, and we could not wait to hear more about this unique idea.

Time to Talk was introduced 2 years ago in mental health awareness week and invites colleagues of all levels to come on and talk about their stories.

"The aim was to create a place where people feel comfortable talking about mental illness at work and it is seen as a strength".

Employees at Sky Betting and Gaming open up on the internal podcast about a real range of hard hitting issues such as suicidal thoughts, bereavement, fertility and the response has been amazing. It is a really bold step for people to make in a working environment and it has strengthened working relationships and added to the open culture that they have created.

"If we are allowing people to feel comfortable at work, they are going to give us more as an employee - more honesty, more passion, more drive, more inclusion".

Claire explained that aswell as the podcast it is important that they have resources to signpost staff to as part of a complete wellness package.

We were so impressed by how Claire and her team are approaching this very important area of the workplace. You can hear the full story behind the award winning podcast and all the other great work Sky Betting and Gaming are doing in terms of wellbeing and mental health on your chosen platform - iTunes, Spotify and Acast.
